If you could only do one whitewater rafting trip in Colorado, Browns Canyon would be the one. This is the quintessential Western adventure, complete with old cabins and railroad tracks along the river that give the trip a real frontier feel. The 16-mile stretch of the Arkansas River takes you through scenic Browns Canyon National Monument, where the massive granite formations make for great viewing when you get a break from paddling, which you will have to do a fair amount of on this trip.
After a gentle warm-up following the put-in, you’ll take on incredible, class III rapids like Zoom Flume, the Seven Stairs, and Seidel’s, with a break in between for a riverside lunch and a chance to take a non-involuntary dip in the river.
This is a staff favorite, and we think it’s our best trip. If you a have full day to dedicate to rafting, this adventure is a must. A perfect choice for adults and families looking for an unforgettable rafting experience, with trips running daily all summer.
What’s Included
The raft trip, shuttle, splash gear, wetsuit, snacks and lunch (when specified). Photos are not included but can be purchased online after the trip!
What to Wear Rafting
We suggest wearing quick drying clothing such as non-cotton shorts and t-shirt or bathing suit. Be sure to bring waterproof sunscreen (you will be rafting at 9,000 feet where the sun is intense!), sunglasses with a retaining device, and comfortable walking shoes. We will provide you with neoprene booties, so your shoes will not be going in the river. Bring a towel and a change of clothes for the ride home.
Our shuttles will act as your mobile locker room. Everything that is not going on the water will stay on the van! It will be manned at all times or locked throughout your voyage to ensure your stuff will be there upon your return.
We provide splash gear on all of our trips, and wetsuits and helmets when appropriate.
Browns Canyon Trip Reviews
- Awesome trip on Roaring Fork! Had an amazing half day trip on the Roaring Fork with Neil!! He was super personable, fun, gave clear instructions, and made us feel very safe on the river! All of Aspen Whitewater Rafting took great precautions to ensure social distancing from beginning to end. They coached when to wear masks, wear to sit on the busses, and kept the groups separate when getting ready for rafting. Would hands down do this again, but would come back for Class IV instead! It’s a beautiful summer in Aspen, so this is definitely the time to try out rafting!read moreread less927lisas9272/08/2021Great family fun We always come back to Aspen Whitewater for our summer rafting trips. Fractions on the Arkansas was fun a few years ago, but today we did the Browns Canyons full day trip with Coby. He was fantastic and the trip was a blast. Great Class III raft trip with 4 teenagers. Just enough rapids to keep it exciting throughout. Highly recommend.read moreread lesswacotexmomma7/29/2020Wonderful Experience!!! This is only my 3rd time rafting but my family and I had a blast! Holly was a wonderful help via phone and email in choosing the correct trip for my family (my husband and I + kids ages 15,11 &8). We choose the full day Brown Canyon. RJ amd Cooper were our leaders on the shuttles and we very informative and witty regarding the area on the ride up to our load in. My two littles were apprehensive about the trip but RJ, our boat leader, was amazing with both of them!read moreread lessJen7/20/2020
- Amazing day! My husband, 11 year old son and I booked the full day Browns Canyon tour, and had the best day today! Quinn and Kyle were our guides and made us feel comfortable and happy from the moment we were picked up. I was a bit nervous but the safety talk was excellent and as soon as we were on the river I relaxed as we were in good hands with Quinn on our raft. He was excellent with my son, and guided us through some sporty rapids. The lunch was delicious too! Thoroughly recommend this tour as it was exhilarating and the scenery was incredible!read moreread lessLizzy6698/13/2019
